oh god where do i begin with this. so i did not expect to be matched with a vity ficdom author AT ALL considering how few seemed to be signing up (i'm very nosy) and how few there are in general?? so yes i was taken aback. then i saw that i had read and enjoyed of their fics before and was like whoa. but the craziest part was how i realized this author is a friend of an acquaintance who also writes vity that i met back when i did a tbz secret santa (aka where cherry pie days came from, thank you kat). anyway, small world huh. i'm definitely feeling more entangled in kpop fandom than i did a few years ago. so far that hasn't been a bad thing [sweats]...
while choosing which work to remix, i did have some trouble, i went back and forth for a bit. i'll be honest, i didn't have issues narrowing down the list because a lot are not things i was willing to read,, but of the ones i liked, there's a good variety. my top pick was bake you feel my love because i'd read it before, it's sooo cute and light-hearted and i'm a secret 00z fan...plus the side puppyz!! but in the end shadow of inspiration won even though i could barely bring myself to reread it due to how much i cried on my first read.
i was fairly sure i wanted to do a sequel, but for a moment i entertained the thought of a truman show au! the vibes of identity crisis/cognitive dissonance/dissatisfaction would've worked, i think? but alas, it seemed like too much work and a straightforward sequel would actually let me feel justified in reading some of the interactions in ASOI as carefully restrained due to insane romantic tension that goes unacknowledged at least on a surface level. anyways. working on my sequel was tough, i knew roughly what i wanted to do but struggled a lot with how to present the ideas i had and feelings of the characters in my own way while also still having the style seem slightly in line with how flwryshj wrote them. also it was exhausting bc i was unwell in the head and being in fictional minhee's head was ummm...well i don't recommend writing rpf instead of going to therapy!

overall, considering this was the first time i chose to write a complete sequel for a remix, i'm fairly satisfied with it, and the author said they enjoyed it :3 the biggest thing i'd change is expanding on the "getting together" section (V CONT.), i was literally running out of time and running on fumes so it was rushed and if i was able to think i would've made it more detailed and rounded out, esp towards the end,, also at some point i wanted to tie in the whole biting as intimacy thing maybe but i totally forgot??? however i like how the shopping scene in INTERLUDE turned out, i think that's my fav part right now. the bit in III that ties into the title is also special in my eyes.

loona fic #4, who else smiled!!! somehow i ended up having gowon at the beach again (Sapphic Saltbrain Summer). and yves at a gay bar again (In My Place). but it felt completely new because it's yveswon, which i recently fell into after bbc imploded and they became pretty much inseparable and married during the period of uncertainty that lasted months, and also because it's a period piece! this fic came about because i just couldn't stop thinking about these tweets describing lesbian cruising in the 70s. i've always been really interested in the 70s, maybe because i've been a scooby doo fan since i was five but regardless, i always love attempting to dive into that time period. this isn't my first time doing so in fic either, the minibin i posted is vaguely 70s and my cobric wip is, too.
OKAY BACK TO THE FIC AT HAND. so once i pictured shake it queendom stage gowon it was OVER, i knew i had to write this. it was super interesting and fulfilling to do some research on jacob riis beach in new york, as i unfortunately never knew about it or its status as a queer haven until those tweets. i also just spent some time learning about cruising, historical gay hotspots, and even a lesbian neighborhood in the 90s called womontown. the rings that yves and gowon wear in this fic are inspired by the "couple rings" they have irl btw. in case anyone cared and/or didn't know. i would like to apologize for the lack of lesbian sex here. i was close to writing out their hookup in full detail but i was originally aiming to post this during pride month and then even after i let go of that deadline, i still felt pressured for some reason? i'm so sorry i will do better...

so just to preface, yes this is posted on anon because i'm a little embarrassed about the content and not all that confident about the quality but hey, that's literally what anon is for. i always intended to post it! this fic is the first in...well any of the relationships i tagged. so that's fun.
ANYWAYS about the content and my thoughts. well it was an impulsive idea and until the very end i never took it seriously,, although a friend kindly offered to beta it and i took them up on it, that was helpful so that it wasn't as confusing because it's already chaotic. i wanted to write this just to explore my own thoughts about wonjin and minhee and think about how they get along with each other but also by extension hyeongjun and serim, how that would or wouldn't impact the dynamics of all 4 of them, and just take a minute to look at the little tangled web they have as they are irl too. all the cravity bedsharing anecdotes, footage, etc. is all extremely compelling to me. i also think minhee has things to say. for example he once typed "wonjin-hyung likes me best though" and that has stayed with me.
i'm enthusiastic about polyamorous relationships and wanted to take a crack at a different type (my bbangnyukyu = closed triad, my hyewonrim = v-type/pre-triad, not necessarily closed) with explicit metamors - people who are with each other's partners but don't become partners to each other. their relationship diagram looks like a diamond with one line through the middle, and 4 of them are the points of the diamond.
but yeah the premise is random (meet-weird?), i pushed kinks and other things in there with little restraint just to see if i could, and i wasn't initially gonna go third person limited pov and let everyone have their moments to shine but that's what happened. lmao. omniscient pov didn't feel intimate or insane enough for the vibe that developed within the beginning section where wonjin walks in...??

hi, anyone who read my january writing log knew this might be coming...
so i have a doc titled "rejects...unless..." to which i add parts of fics that get rewritten, might be useful later on in the fic but are taking up space/are confusing, or just don't quite work. i started working on This Much is True in may 2022 and finished it up in january 2023. honestly, i have older wips that i'm still working on that have less words relegated to the rejects doc than TMIT, so i actually think it might be more of an indication of how focused i am or if i'm writing a lot or in crazy bursts or if i even remember that rejects exists. the process of writing every fic is so different for me, aside from the fact that 95% of the time i don't know how the fic will end before i'm on the verge of ending it.

Over the years, the one thing that has made itself clear is that Serim has no boundaries and little forethought.
(If he had boundaries, maybe Hyeongjun wouldn’t have fallen in love with him. If he had more forethought, maybe, just maybe, he would’ve noticed that Hyeongjun is in love with him and saved Hyeongjun from the minefield that is trying to date other people.)
And for this, he’s unforgivable. But Hyeongjun will always try to forget, because that’s what best friends do.

There had been half an hour for Serim to get to the soccer club but he hadn’t even gotten on the bus yet. He was usually fine with time management between school and practice - and by fine it was more like barely scraping by - but his Korean professor had let the class go into overtime. He ran out the front of the university and headed straight for the bus stop. As he dodged the pedestrian traffic with the bus stop in sight, a distinct voice called out from the sea of students and staff.
“Oh, hyung! Hi there!”
Serim’s first mistake was letting the voice disarm him for more than a moment. His second mistake was turning to look. His third mistake was not stopping his feet from moving.
His teammates had laughed at the bruise blooming on his face and the aches elsewhere did him no favors with intense physical activity. But if there was a bright side to that situation, it was sharing a bus ride with Hyeongjun for the first time.

this event was an exchange so i got a fic in return!! it's hyunvi (hyunjin/vivi) and it's so fun and sweet, lighthearted but still tugs at your heartstrings at one point ;-;
in the sign up forms you had to list some tropes and aus and my gifter basically put all of what i listed in this fic, it's kinda crazy. like domestic slice of life scifi are you kidding meeee I GENUINELY LIKE THE BITS OF WORLDBUILDING TOO LIKE <333 ah i'm still really happy and blessed forever. who knew loona disbandment era would still give me a lot to smile about hhh.

my fic for moonlight party, i finally got to have a go at my precious 99z <33 if you've read my last few logs you already know it was hard to get started because of loona's company imploding (yay but ouch). writing about chuu when her situation was unknown right after getting kicked out was...not working ;-; but luckily the general outlook improved and i was able to throw something together. someone commented that this fic made them feel better with everything going on (i'm humbled) and honestly i wrote it to make myself feel a little better and lighten up!! i wanted to imagine a world where loona was still there, just not as a group as we know them. it's part of me getting into a post-loona mindset i guess! anyway it was hard to get into idolverse after a long while away, it's not really my thing anymore but i like it when other ppl do it sometimes. my giftee likes angst and i knew i was gonna skip out on that so i was happy that they also like "idiots to lovers",, that being said idk if it's quite there but i can always do silly and always enjoy it^^ but overall it came out alright, i feel a bit unsatisfied though. if i had more time, i'd definitely develop and flesh out more themes, maybe add more members, and delve deeper into my "commentary" on idol life and industry which is apparently a thing i can do now.

MY GIFT FOR EMILY THAT YALL HAVE SEEN IN MY LOGS FOR FOREVER...i created its doc on 5/24/22, a little over a week before her bday and it just spiraled from there. i created two previous docs and the wips in there aren't bad and as i've said, they might warrant revisiting or posting on here. in the end i realized those weren't as geared towards emily specifically and i really like making gifts that are special and as specific as possible bc otherwise why bother? so i actually asked what she liked and formed TMIT based on mutual pining, sports au, and comedy. not sure if i've mentioned this before but i had come close to writing a soccer au before so while recalling serim's personal history as an athlete i SMILED. i had no idea it would reach over 10k and i'm still just like whoa i did ALL this? there's a lot of fun parts but my fav parts to write were the couch scene, the end part of the confession scene, and the karaoke - which was hard to coordinate with the pacing and imagery and their movements etc etc but yeah! although this plot is not very serious, as is my usual, this fic was a challenge! most of the difficulty was doing soccer research, deciding what positions the soccer players should have, and of course making up an english town and football club. i took this very seriously and came up with excess info lmao. here's a little ref sheet about ulfmoor united #bonuscontent

ITS OVERRR my god. ao3 user Hindy remixed i can't stand to fly and gave me a sequel called the better part of me. it's really cute and it makes me happy^^ i never thought icstf would get remixed because it's kind of...eclectic i guess? idk but i fucking love suncob and clearly everyone knows that.
as i just stated, i fucking love suncob. therefore i wrote suncob even when i had the choice of other sunwoo and jacob ships. ALSO i had multiple suncob options because ao3 user Bazzys has taste.
Bazzys has written a couple of my favorite tbz fics as it turns out! i was taken aback when i got my matching email. just 1-2 weeks before i'd read their kyucob <3 so i was like WHOA? anyways that's how profiling works i guess.
so let me tell you what i DIDN'T do for Bazzys...
- changing up Break Your Rules (kyucob) by making jacob part monster. i got fixated on the idea of squid monster (think ben from the umbrella academy??) bc of come on tbz and jacob's real life thing for octupi. i was prepared to get real nasty and create energy in a doc that i'd never thought i would but in the end i didn't have the gumption to do it. i like the original too much<3
- making House of Cards (sunnew) into either a cinderella-esque au or kicking up the childhood friends/almost lovers to "i know you from a past life" (aliens and space travel?? post-apocalypse? reincarnation??? there were a lot of directions in my mind). the issue with this was that i had a feeling it'd get too long to the point of me not being able to finish it by the submission deadline and/or me getting annoyed.
overall: i thought i was getting txt but i got suncob and i also got to give suncob :D so even though i wasn't as into it as last year, i'm still very satisfied with my matches and happy that i signed up @.@

i've always been a big fan of speculative fiction ever since i could remember. for a while, though, i forgot how much i liked reading things that fall more specifically into the sci-fi genre. then, in the last couple years, i took some english classes to fulfill more of my GEs and i Remembered. two of those classes were sci-fi specific and they basically saved my ability to read original fiction. so...

tlhod actually haunts me. i want to reread it but idk like do i have that much emotional energy to spare. when i got to a certain chapter i just had to stop reading and try to regain my stability. yes i did cry a little. le guin is insane for this!!! to be honest this moved me so deeply and made it feel like life was still worth it and wonder was still alive and well when i was miserable in zoom school. i carry this story in my body even if i can't remember all the delicious fine details. if you read a blurb of it, it may not seem like it's about love and acceptance and politics but it is i prommy. if you read this can you please talk to me about it

i couldn't stop thinking about this for like 2 weeks straight. it's so fucked up that it's baffling. but it's also real, even too real at some points. the way the details of What Happened are revealed and start to come together is well done. kept me wanting more til the end. this book is the first part of a trilogy called the Madaddam Trilogy and i'm actually reading book 2 rn!

this is the first time i read a sci-fi story that takes place in africa! and it's cool because nigeria is next to ghana, where half my heritage is from (let's go west africans). it's crazy how slice of life it is but at the same time sooo wack with all the perspective changes and characters and the weird shit going on. the narration goes crazy and the use of pidgin english adds that extra level of Realism. like oryx and crake, you can totally see this happening. the ending could've done more for me but it's a good read as an overall experience.

we all know about the amazons, wonder woman, and all that but i've never known anything like the all female society that's in this book (and yes they are lesbians). the story is lowkey an insane ride and i got confused at some points. but we got some scrumptious organic vs synthetic tension going on in here and a couple crazy dream-like sequences that were very trippy which i'm in awe of still. while i didn't like the ending, the book's concepts and scenes stuck in my mind so well that it was worth the read to me and i would reread it.

so i had to read this book in one day because i was behind in class BUT LET ME TELL YOU it is doable! the story starts slow and then just builds and builds, it's so ominous, it feels like a good psych thriller movie in some ways. i love the descriptions and the imagery. the main character is very interesting but that's all i can say.

so obviously this is super famous and paved the way and i can see why. story time: i got scared because there's a chapter title called VENI VIDI VICI and i just started looking into cravity while reading...everything connects <3 i'm actually curious whether this book had any influence over the song (the scifi vibes cravity has sometimes & the lyrics...it's possible). OKAY ENOUGH ABOUT CRAVIY honestly i had mixed feelings about the book as i read it. some parts are pretty technical and on a very personal note sometimes i had trouble imagining scenes well in my head. but i'm a sucker for fucked up things that keep you guessing. plus the multiple narrators. overall it just keeps driving on and on until WHOA but the ending is rlly a setup for the rest of the series which i'm not gonna read (or at least not past book 2) so...yeah it is what it is

I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE?? i promise it made an impact on me though. just can never remember the title correctly smh. anyway, i really love the diction & syntax & structure of this, the worldbuilding/situational set up, and the concept of this ai consciousness. good program, very beautiful very powerful. not only can this make you feel something for an ai but it also pushes the imagery-boundary of what is synthetic and organic. give it up for the nature-tech dichotomy

note that this is a short story COLLECTION so while there were a few stories i didn't connect with as much, it's amazing as a whole. i love the variety and there are some really interesting twists in here. contains animals and creatures.
a lot of AI depictions in media are disturbing but this one is not, it felt refreshing to me. super short so that's all i'm gonna say. hehe
this is the story that the movie arrival was based off of, so if you've seen that you know this shit slaps. if you haven't seen that, it doesn't matter because this is the OG and it slaps severely imo. i cried. i lost my mind. this hurts so good. pour one out for parent-child relationships

disturbing to say the least. great concept though, octavia butler was not afraid to do crazy shit and make people Think. she paved the way. @ the characters in this ummm talk about complicated relationships...

very relevant sociocultural commentary. rereading it only makes it stronger imo because seeing the little pieces of foreshadowing and etc. is super satisfying. love the main character. i felt touched by the ending! 2020 hugo award winner!!
the actual concept of this is amazing (and fucked up/haunting) in itself but for me, it's how it's written. some parts of it are like poetry! who else loves when lines are repeated and gain different meanings? please read this.
this is a clever commentary on multiple fronts. ngl i didn't remember that much about it except that some lines were very good and the ending made me smile. i realize i have to reread all of these stories so i can keep carrying them with me :>

okay honestly this didn't have the biggest impact on me overall, like yeah it's good but it made the list because i really like how history and perspectives are talked about in this. there are also some really great lines (i could reread this just to mine it for quotes).
i found this heartwarming and creative. tbh i'm not the biggest fan of robots, they're cool but i don't go out of my way to consume robot media or anything, so i was surprised by how much i loved it. HUGO AWARD WINNER FOR BEST SHORT STORY 2021!!

FICMIX IS ON! the new deadline is sept 11th so yeah i'm gonna take that time to finish mine, polish it, and try to come up with a title, summary, & pictures for the...graphic. really curious if my mixer did an nct or tbz fic for me OR went with one of my less-written fandoms. still stunned that i got a oneus fic last year <3

FICMIX IS ON! the new deadline is sept 11th so yeah i'm gonna take that time to finish mine, polish it, and try to come up with a title, summary, & pictures for the...graphic. really curious if my mixer did an nct or tbz fic for me OR went with one of my less-written fandoms. still stunned that i got a oneus fic last year <3

are we going nowhere? is the first cravity fic on my ao3. i didn't think my first fic for them would be minibin of all pairings but i'd wanted to write smth inspired by abq by the marias for quite some time now and one night i was like hmmmm this can help me cope with the minibin divorce. (ask me about my taste in cravity ships.) anyways, it was nice to just go and bang out a short thing without any real expectations. here's to the first of (potentially) many applejwoos vityfics!

ficmix update: i decided on a fic and i have a roadmap in my mind. i just started writing it a couple days ago and the check in was august 6th! i'm waiting on the reply email but i had over 500 words already so i'm obviously in good shape. it's really cool because i'm incorporating an au idea that i tried to write 3 years ago or so and i literally use the doc as reference lol. it is my view that i didn't write all that much in july because i was pondering over this so hard!!
djf r3 is coming! the theme is tbzverse which is pretty appealing to me. i might break my ?? month long absence from fests with this :> and this would be my 2nd time ever repeating an event.
